GEORGE MARSHALL CUP 1ST ROUND
Appleby Frodingham 2nds set visiting Lindum 2nds a target of 149 at Brumby Hall with 42 not out from Jack Forrester and 30 from Michael Soloman as Jordan Peters and Joe Thompson took three wickets each but the Lincoln outfit fell 34 runs short with Ollie Alford and Harry Wells top scoring on 26 , Paul Hilton taking 3 for 23 for the Steelmen who will now travel to Hartsholme in the Quarter Finals on May 28th who beat Outcasts in a low scoring affair at Hirst Priory where the Isle side were dismissed for 62 , predominantly by the Wilkinson’s as Liam took 4 for 22 and Steven who picked up 3 for 12 then despite the best efforts of home skipper Liam McAnaney who claimed 3 for 30 Hartsholme made their way to a five wicket victory and a home tie at the end of the month. Holton le Clay cruised to a nine wicket win against Clee Town Laportes who were bowled out for 137 with GarvinSerieux hitting 50 and Ranjan Bala 37 , Stuart Harvey taking 4 for 19 for the visitors who then eased to 138 for 1 as Paul Holmes guided them home with an unbeaten 59 alomg with 37 from Gareth Cook. Next up for HLC are Market Rasen following their three wicket win at Cherry Willingham for whom Matt O’Halloran scored 48 and Scott Coupland 33 not out before ex Cherry Will Carter ( 44 ) and Charlie Scales ( 33 no ) saw Rasen overhaul the target required. Out on the Isle of Axholme Haxey made 152 for 3 when taking first knock against Cleethorpes 2nds with opener Oliver Tonks batting through for 62 not out and Jack Smith 38 after which Tonks then picked up three wickets along side Jacob Wainman who finished with 4 for 20 as the Meggies were bowled out for 89. A home Quarter Final with Scothern awaits Haxey next who narrowly beat Caistor Town by twelve runs , Tom Gregory hitting 69 in their total of 141 all out before they restricted Caistor to 129.Finally in the George Marshall Cup holders Grimsby Town now know their last eight opponents and that will be Scunthorpe Town 2nds who bowled Broughton out for 97 with Richard Stone making 52 as Ramesh Chand took 5 for 21 then an unbeaten 34 not out as Scunthorpe reached 100 for 5.
BOB WELTON CUP 1ST ROUND
There was a welcome victory for Hibaldstow who bowled Normanby Park out for 120 then reached that target for the loss of only four wickets , Nathan Goodall hitting 48 not out along with 39 from Jerry Thomas which means they will play hosts to Nettleham 2nds on June 4th who gained a comfortable nine wicket win over Hartsholme 2nds whom they bowled out for 120 before Harry Thornton’s unbeaten 52 and Ben Pearce’s 36 saw Nettleham claim their place in the Quarter Finals. AJ Cook struck 76 and Ashton Fell 55 as Bracebridge Heath 2nds set a tough target of 176 for 5 at Alkborough who fell just seven runs short in reply as Oliver Kirman made 52 not out and Callum Render 40 with Adam Pursey taking 3 for 19 while Bracebridge’s next opponents will be Alford who chased down Holton le Clay 2nds 173 for 6 for whom Paul Morgan hit 72 before the evergreen Neil Calvert ( 70 not out ) and Dennis Buirman ( 50 not out ) saw the visitors home for the loss of just three wickets. Matty Lawson hit 51 for Messingham in their eight wicket win against Cleethorpes 3rds who were bowled out for 110 with Joshua Joy capturing 3 for 17 and that earned them a home tie with Grimsby Town 2nds in the Quarter Finals who beat Louth 2nds by 41 runs at Augusta Street where Will Burgess scored 37 and David Unsworth 32 in Town’s first innings score of 154 then team mate Muhammed Shahzab took 4 for 22 when Louth were bowled out for 113 , Wayne Garlick top scoring for them with 45. Finally in the Bob Welton Cup Dale Christie hit an unbeaten half century to see Market Rasen 2nds through at the expense of Lindum 3rds which earned them a trip to Cup holders Barton Town on June 4th.
LCCL DIVISION THREE EAST
New boys Brocklesby Park made it three wins from three when beating Nettleham 3rds by six wickets at the Barracks where Nettleham were dismissed for 110 , Archie Rossington hitting 30 and Nathan Balding 27 not out , Khizar Khawaja taking 3 for 17 and Shahzad Ali 3 for 15 and the latter went on to score 22 not out along with Andy Sharp who hit 37 to guide Brock Park home. Louth 3rds inflicted a three wicket defeat on Alford 2nds who’s skipper Adam Gilbride made 44 in their all out total of 107 as Adam Grist took an impressive 3 for 0 and Luke Johnson 3 for 27 who went on to top score for Louth with 25 as they reached 108 for 7 in reply. Cherry Willingham 2nds inflicted a first defeat on new boys Grimoldby who dismissed Cherry 2nds for 118 as Justin Owen picked up 3 for 4 with Josh Haywood making 23 , Richard Newell 22 and Phil Lunn 20 who then went on to take 5 for 20 as Grimoldby were bowled out for 61.
LCCL DIVISION THREE WEST
Scunthorpe Town 3rds top the Division Three West table following their nine wicket win at Caistor Town 2nds who were dismissed for 87 with George Luya taking 4 for 10 then scoring 52 to claim a man of the match performance while Barton Town 2nds made it two wins from two when they comfortably beat Brigg Town by 111 runs , Finlay Bell hitting 89 and Jeremy Evans 33 when the Humbersiders posted 172 for 7 with Nick Beacock taking 4 for 22 for Brigg who were then bowled out for 61 , Dean Cressey and Lennon Ward picking up three wickets each. Finally in Division Three West Messingham 2nds recorded a second straight win when beating Broughton 2nds by two wickets in a run fest at Northfield Road where Broughton made 183 for 6 with Jake Parker top scoring on 43 supported by 35from Steve Johnstone but it wasn’t enough as 59 and 31 respectively from Rob and Lewis Talbot saw the hosts reach 184 for 8 in a thrilling finish to the game.

The Mick Walker Memorial North Lindsey League got into full swing on May 1st when there was one league game and three Cup games and there were several outstanding performances across those matches.

Lincolnshire County Cricket League Report - April 30th 2022 - Glen Sands
LCCL PREMIER DIVISION
Lindum 2nds top the early LCCL Premier Division three weeks into the season although Grimsby Town and promoted Outcasts are the two teams with 100% records. There was a low scoring game at Lindum who were bowled out for 117 by visiting Haxey , Ollie Alford hitting 50 with Harvey Round taking 4 for 27 while team mates Oliver Tonks and Jack Smith picked up three each but Jordan Peters bowled the Lincoln outfit to victory when he posted 6 for 35 as the Isle of Axholme side were reduced to 94 all out. Opener Hayden Tice was in good form for second placed Grimsby Town who bowled Caistor Town out for 171 before cruising to 174 for 1 , Rory Ronaldson performing well against his former club when taking 4 for 15 and Scothern registered their first win of the campaign when beating Cleethorpes 2nds by 95 runs at Chichester Road where Will Bailey hit 80 and Spenser Bailey 40 in their first innings score of 210 for 6 before Alex Stapleton 3 for 24 and Odin Turner ( 3 for 22 ) helped to bowl the Meggies out for 115. Holton le Clay v Scunthorpe Town 2nds was postrponed due to covid issues in the HLC squad with the game set to be rescheduled before the teams have played nine games. If this is not possible then to teams would be awarded five points each.
LCCL DIVISION ONE
Barton Town have made a perfect start to life in Division One after winning their first three matches by the maximum twenty points. They recorded a total of 210 for 7 against Louth 2nds with all nine batsmen used making double figures then Bradley Hodson took 5 for 18 as Louth were dismissed for 123. Cherry Willingham made it two wins from two when easing to a 55 runs victory over Alkborough who have yet to register a win from their opening three games , Cherry scoring 136 for 6 before bowling their opponents out for 81 while Hartsholme are also two from two after they beat Clee Town Laportes by seven wickets , bowling their hosts out for 138 thanks in the main to three wickets each from Martin Shillito and Rob Thorpe and a half century from Michael Hale when r4eaching 140 for 3. Appleby Frodingham 2nds made the short trip to Broughton but left without a point as they were bowled out for 76 , predominantly by Shaun Clark who picked up 5 for 22 after which his team eased to 77 for 2 and finally in Division One Messingham gained their first win of 2022 when beating Bracebridge Heath 2nds by 64 runs , setting a target of 203 for 8 with 41 from skipper Andy Langford , 31 from Lumbani Gondwe and 30 from Richard Antcliffe before Tom Reed took 4 for 18 as Bracebridge were bowled out for 129 , AJ Cook scoring 41 to add to his 4 for 57.
LCCL DIVISION TWO
Promoted as Champions from Division Three last year Nettleham 2nds have taken to life in Division Two like a duck to water and they made it three wins from three when beating Lincoln rivals Hartsholme 2nds by 38 runs at Ashby Avenue where Ben Pearce hit 78 when posting a total of 195 all out before Hartsholme replied with 157 for 4 , Nick Wilkinson scoring 67 and Chale Nishahasan 50 providing the majority of their total. Holton le Clay 2nds posted a target of 150 for 9 against Normanby Park with opening batsman Gareth Cook hitting 64 but Luke Cowling’s 43 along with 33 not out from both Aiden Wroe and Ben Bramley saw Normanby overhaul that for the loss of seven wickets while Alford picked up their first win of the season when they bowled Lindum 3rds out for 103 thanks to 4 for 27 from Sam Chatterton and 4 for 33 from Dennis Buirman then reached 104 for 4 in reply , Graham Codd top scoring with 34. Finally Market Rasen 2nds were set a tough target by Grimsby Town 2nds of 206 for 8 as Will Burgess struck 51 , Simon Bunn taking 5 for 47 at Rsae Park where Aaron Navin made 55 as his team reached 207 for 5 to claim a five wicket win.
LCCL DIVISION THREE EAST
Brocklesby Park have won both their opening games in the LCCL now following a four wicket win over Louth 3rds who made 142 for 6 when batting first with 55 from Mark Duell and 46 from Zubar Ahmed then Sanjay Chahan scored 35 and Inderjeet Sandhu 34 to see their team to 143 for 6 while new boys Grimoldby were involved in a thriller against Horncastle as they made their bow in the LCCL , the game ending in a high scoring tie. Matthew Mansey top scored with 37 and Zach Hussey 29 as Grimoldby posted 196 all out , Thomas Hackett and Michael Panchal taking three wickets each after which the visitors replied with 196 for 5 with 74 from David Grest and 68 not out from opener Paul File. Cameron Donald also hit 68 for Cherry Willingham 2nds when they made 198 for 4 against Scothern 2nds who were then bowled out for 67 , Phil Lunn and Matthew Wilkinson taking four wickets each and finally in Division Three East Nettleham 3rds comfortably won their first outing of the season when beating Alford 2nds by ten wickets at Well Lane where William Ward took 5 for 8 and Kieran Baker hit 38 not out.
LCCL DIVISION THREE WEST
Performance of the day had to be that of Oliver Mussett who scored an incredible 176 not out for Barton Town 2nds as they posted 282 for 2 declared against Caistor Town 2nds who only managed 39 in reply and it was similarly one sided at Haxey where their 2nd XI bowled Brigg Town out for 61 then eased 67 without loss , Darren Johnson hitting 38 not out. Messingham 2nds opened their 2022 season with an eight wicket victory at Hirst Priory where Outcasts 2nds scored 183 for 4 thanks in the main to 48 from Jacob Dunston and Henry Holland 44 before old head Tony Joy made 74 not out and Elliot Markahm 48 to guide the visitors home and finally in Division Three West Scunthorpe Town 3rds beat Broughton 2nds by five wickets at Hibaldstow , posting a target of 100 then reducing Broughton to 95.
