North Lindsey League Report - 24th April 2022 - Glen Sands

The Mick Walker Memorial North Lindsey League got under way on April 24th with just one match and it saw Luddington Dons pick up the first points of 2022 when gaining a comprehensive 10 wicket victory against a young Messingham outfit.

Messingham won the toss and elected to bat first against ten man Luddington who had a late drop out and the Isle side struck early when Matthew Teal caught and bowled opener Fowler when the total stood at one. George Longstaff and Matthew Henton took the score to 32 before the former was bowled by Arron Curry with his first delivery then Henton was run out by Brett Smith and the home side were reeling at 39 for 3. Joshua Joy and skipper Tom Sowerby rallied with a fourth wicket stand of 41 but when Sowerby was caught by Ryan Bonser off Curry for 21 and Joy went soon after caught by Curry off Bradley King for 24 the wheels quickly came off as two further wickets fell to King without a run being added. Ryan Bonser then mopped up the tail with three for five leaving Messingham all out for 96 , Bradley King and that man Bonser picking up three wickets apiece.

Experienced openers Martin Davey and Darren Clark wasted no time in knocking off the runs required with Clark in particular batting well , ending on 59 not out while Davey finished on 19 to help their team claim an opening day victory.

Next up for the Dons is a trip to Alkborough in the Mick Walker Memorial Trophy while Messingham have a week off before renewing rivalry with the Isle team once again.

Lincolnshire County Cricket Double Dozen U11/U13 Week 11 & 12

Week 11

Wednesday evening saw our penultimate round of fixtures for our U11 & U13 (North) Winter Indoor League, proudly sponsored by Clixby Active Pro Sports Ltd.

The U13 fixture saw the hybrid Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed & Normanby Park Cricket Club become League Champions with a comfortable victory over a depleted Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs. After losing their first fixture, the hybrid pairing have strung together 5 victories on the bounce to win the League with a week left of the competition - well done to all 3 clubs. They will now progress to the County Finals Day (hopefully next month).

The U11 fixture saw Alkborough Cricket Club get their first points of the campaign & ending League winners Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs, unbeaten run at the same time. The young team of Alkborough Cricket Club have progressed week on week & it's great to see their hard work pay off.

Next week is the final week of our inaugral campaign & we will post the final league tables after the results are in.

Lincolnshire County Cricket Double Dozen U11/U13 Week 9 & 10

 Week 9

Last night saw R9 of our U11 & U13 (North) Winter Indoor League, proudly sponsored by Clixby Active Pro Sports Ltd.

Huge congratulations to Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs U11's who not only kept their unbeaten streak going, but were crowned League Champions, courtesy of a 13 run victory over a depleted hybrid Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed & Normanby Park Cricket Club side.

Well done to Sean Clixby & his troops 🎉, who will now represent the North U11's at a County Final next month. Can they remain unbeaten for the whole competition?

Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed & Normanby Park Cricket Club moved one step closer to the U13 title by defeating Alkborough Cricket Club by 46 runs & even more impressively didn't lose a wicket for the second week in a row 👏. One more win for this team will see them over the line & become the U13 League winners.

We go again next week

 Week 10

Wednesday evening saw R10 of our U11 & U13 (North) Winter Indoor League, proudly sponsored by Clixby Active Pro Sports Ltd.

A penultimate ball thriller in the U11 contest saw the hybrid Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed & Normanby Park Cricket Club beat Alkborough Cricket Club by 2 runs.

The U13 fixture saw Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs beat Alkborough Cricket Club by 36 runs, with a top score of 22 by Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs Thomas Clixby, which included the batting holy grail of a 12.

This result sees the U13 League go down to the wire with Outcasts  Cricket  Club & Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs both sitting just behind Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed/ Normanby Park Cricket Club.

Destiny is still in their hands & if they can defeat Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs next week in the penultimate week of fixtures, they will become the League winners.

Bring it on 😁

Lincolnshire County Cricket Double Dozen U11/U13 Week 7 & 8

Week 7

We welcomed back our Indoor Junior League up in the Scunthorpe area, in partnership with Clixby Active Pro Sports Ltd.

No change in the table standings for the U11's as the hybrid Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed & Normanby Park Cricket Club (238/2) beat Alkborough Cricket Club (203/5) by 35 runs. This leaves Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs 2 points clear at the top.

The U13 League has been blown wide open following Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs (232/5) coming out victorious against the previously unbeaten Outcasts  Cricket  Club (219/5). Outcasts  Cricket  Club remain top of the table on 6 points with Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs & Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed/ Normanby Park Cricket Club just behind on 4 points.

Following last night's results, this leaves Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs U11's as the only unbeaten team across both leagues - can they maintain their charge?????

Great start back after the half term break 😍🏏

Week 8

Last night saw Round 8 of our U11 & U13 (North) Winter Indoor League, proudly sponsored by Clixby Active Pro Sports Ltd.

It was an evening of firsts with both the hybrid U13 Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed/ Normanby Park Cricket Club & the U11 Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs not conceding a wicket in their respective games 👏👏

U11 Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs (268/0) beat U11 Alkborough Cricket Club (240/3) by 28 runs. A great team performance with the bat & a solid fielding display, saw them extend their unbeaten run at the top of the table. Indeed if Broughton Cricket Club - Lincs come out victorious in next week's fixtures, they will be crowned League winners - can Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed/ Normanby Park Cricket Club spoil the party???

Credit must also go to a young Alkborough Cricket Club side, who delivered their best performance of the league thus far.

U13 Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed/ Normanby Park Cricket Club (263/0) beat U13 Outcasts Cricket  Club (215/10) convincingly. As the scoreline suggests, a very strong team performance with both bat & ball, now puts Haxey Cricket Club Newsfeed/ Normanby Park Cricket Club in the driving seat. Indeed if they win 2 out of their 3 remaining games they will be crowned League champions.

4 more weeks to go, in what has been an excellent developmental opportunity for all of the young players
