SM Cricket UK Lincoln Indoor League Report - Week 11

First of all before I talk results I just need to inform you that Bracebridge Heath Cricket Club have withdrawn from the league and cup for the rest of this season.  Reepham will play a friendly v Nettleham or Cherry Willingham 2nds (whoever looses their first round cup match) on Thursday 3rd March at 7.00pm.

7.00pm  Hartsholme beat Bracebridge Heath by default.

A 3 point win and 6 opposition wickets to Hartsholme.

7.00pm  - Friendly - Hartsholme beat Broughton by 6 wickets.

Broughton 61-3 from 10 overs.   Jamie Robinson 25 not out, (2x6 and 2x4), Neil Simpson 16 (1x6).   Joe Gilbert 1-15.

Hartsholme 62-0 from 5 overs.   James Favill 26 - Retired (1x6 and 2x4), Ed Bosworth 23 not out (2x6)

My thanks to Broughton for playing this match.

8.00pm   Reepham beat Broughton by 4 wickets.

Broughton 87-1 from 10 overs.  Jamie Robinson 27 - Retired (1x4 and 1x6),  Paul Mitchell 25 - Retired (1x6 and 3x4),  Russ Blackburn 22 not out (1x6 and 2x4).   Rick Bell 1-23 from 3 overs.

Reepham 89-2 from 9.2 overs.  Rick Bell 25 - Retired, Jon Mackinder 16 not out.

1st win of the season for Reepham, with Jack Dent hitting a 6 to win the match with 4 balls remaining.

9.00pm   Nettleham beat Cherry Willingham 2nds by 16 runs.

Nettleham 66-5 from 10 overs.  Jordan McCardell 37 not out (2x4), 22 extras.  Tom Hunt 2-11 from 3 overs including a smart stumping from James Welbourn, George Hunt 2-22 from 3 overs.

Cherry Willingham 2nds 50 all out from 8.4 overs.   David Eyre 19 (1x6), Caleb Pipes-Goulsbra 10 (1x4).  Dan McCardell 3-10 from 2.4 overs, Haydn Bromfield 3-13 from 3 overs and he also took 3 catches including an outstanding one handed catch.

Nettleham had been 34-5 but sensible batting from 22 year old Jordan McCardell with an unbeaten 37 and a few wides gave a total that Nettleham could defend.

 LEAGUE INFORMATION:

I realise that we have 3 weeks of cup matches ahead of us, but a few thank you's to all teams and Darren for umpiring, Sam the caretaker and Steve and Mike for their work behind the scenes on the committee.  We have managed to complete the season after an incredibly difficult 2 years while a number of leagues around the UK have not happenned for the 2nd year running.

Congratulations to Cherry Willingham 1sts on an unprecedented 10th consecutive league win.  I am putting a write up together for the Lincoln League handbook and from looking at history this competition has seen 4 teams dominate.  The 1980's and early 1990's saw Claytons Cricket Club win everything in sight, before Bracebridge Heath took over the mantle dominating the 1990's and early naughties.  Nettleham CC than had a 5 or 6 year spell where they hardly lost a match before Cherry Willingham started an incredibly last decade.
